Purpose of this Website

In a nutshell the purpose of this website, is for my wife and I, to help raise money for our grand children to go to college.

My wife and I have five grandchildren all of whom live in California. Four of our five grand children are trying to get into college. Two are in college right now. One is graduating this month. Two more are trying to enter college. But, tuition, books and living accommodations costs a small fortune, just for one--for four it is astronomical.

The cost is more than their parents (our kids) and we (the grand parents) can manage. The parents of our grand children all work but can't possibly afford to meet their own bills let alone finance their kids' college educations.

My wife and I are both retired and our income is centered around social security. We have limited financial means to help. We are both in our mid-70s with the usual medical problems of older people. Neither of us are capable of finding employment to aid in financing the grand kids through college.

Designing websites is a hobby of mine, so I thought I'd give this means a try.

Our oldest granddaughter's name is Joan. She is 22 years old. She is graduating from the University of California-Chico the last week of this month (May 2010) with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science with an option in Legal Studies and a Paralegal Certificate. Joan graduated from high school, entered into the community college system for her first two years of undergraduate studies. She has completed her Junior and Senior years at UC-Chico. She has worked almost full time every one of those years. She is on the Dean's List for her academic achievements. She has applied to law schools in California and is awaiting acceptance in one of the law schools.

Aaron is one of our grand sons. He will be 22 next nonth. He presently works full time and is pursuing his college degree with the University of Phoenix.

Elizabeth better known as Liz. Liz will be 18 years old in July. She is graduating from high school next month. She has excellent grades and also aspires to go to college. She faces the same predicament most kids have--how can they afford to go to college?

Jack is 20 years old. He has been attending junior college and is presently working 30 hours a week in a grocery store and setting up to return to class this fall.

Jack, the other grandson, is working 30 hours a week and seeks to return to college this fall.

They are all good kids just beginning their lives. My wife and I want to help them get off to a good start. That takes an education. Of course each of them will have to apply for student aid and loans to help pay for their schooling.

I was fortunate when I was their age. I got my start with the GI bill following the Korean War. It is much harder to get through college nowadays than it was back then.

So this explains our purpose for this website. I think it can help you and your organization, while at the same time, help us as well.
